Internet Casino Sucker Bets — Part II

  • Progressive side bets: Casino games such as Caribbean Stud Poker commonly offer one of these. You normally place a wager ($1 is the normal value) to try to win a side jackpot that can be upwards of twenty-five thousand dollars. Though huge jackpots like these are extremely tempting, they are also very hard to succeed. You would need to hit a Royal Flush in order to hit this bet. Also, imagine this- you play twenty hands and put the side wager every time. That’s twenty dollars you should have used towards the actual game wager in place of a sucker wager. Picture what you might have been able to win at a bet with more favorable odds using that 20 dollars.
  • Individual number wagers in Roulette: This is completely true for American Roulette. The reason? American Roulette has 2 zeroes on the wheel, as opposed to European Roulette, which has just 1. This shifts the complete house advantage from twopercent with one zero wheel to a whopping fivepercent in American. The individual number wager has only a one in 38 chance of winning, which are very long odds indeed. Try even-odd or black-red bets as a substitute which have a much smaller house edge.
  • Keno: Any version of Keno, and regardless of how you wager on it, the house advantage can be a huge twenty-five percent. Yes, that isn’t a typo. Because of the large amount of numbers you have to pick, it’s not advisable to wager on Keno to often. A few times for fun, perhaps. But do not waste all your cash on it or you’ll immediately find yourself broke.
