Uk Gamblers Make Up a 3rd of All European Internet Bettors
Friday, 3. September 2010
The web gaming industry in the United Kingdom has doubled in 5 years, with in excess of a million bettors regularly gambling using the internet. According to a poll administered by the Dept. of Culture, Media and Sport, British gamblers make up around one-third of the Old World’s estimated total of three point three million online bettors.
The typical sum spent by every gambler is estimated at £1,000, with the European sector now worth £3.5bn annually.
Among the 70 net gambling sites in the United Kingdom, none are gaming sites promoting casino card games such as poker and blackjack. A better part of the planet’s two thousand internet gambling sites are based in locations with dubious net betting rules. Antigua and Costa Rica account for more than 1,000 casinos between them.
The Government in the UK is hoping to introduce regulations and a tax system to control the functioning of the online wagering business. With this type of regulatory framework in place, web betting activities would be observed and the industry can hope to achieve even bigger penetration in the near future.
